Mike Farley came to fix a broken levered drain stopper in my bathroom sink. I also asked him to check out the toilet, because it had seemed to flush on its own just yesterday. He said that the toilet flap was worn out and that the mechanism in the tank needed to be replaced. He also replaced the toilet flush handle at my request.Mike set right to work when he arrived, assessing what the problems were. He clearly explained each of the problems and their solutions and offered me choices for the toilet flush handle.Mike was very considerate about putting on booties to keep the floors clean. He is friendly and upbeat and it was a pleasure to have him do this work.

My mother who is in her late 70's had an issue with her water pressure yesterday. She had a company come out that was not HL Bowman to assess the issue. While the tech was onsite he asked about the Acid Reducer System that was in her bathroom. She stated that Bowman installed that back in November 2024 when they re-piped the home. While the re-pipe work was done well the Acid Reducer was NOT needed for her. It also caused the loss of water pressure that she is experiencing now. The install tech told her that the acid reducer only needs maintenanced every 3 years, which is incorrect. It should be done yearly and the calcite filter should also be replaced yearly. It also was installed without a softener which made her already hard well water, 10x harder.I called HL Bowman today and asked to speak with a Plumbing Manager regarding this. I was advised by Melissa that a request would be submitted to either Steve or Devon, but it may take 24 to 48hrs for a manager to return my call. I advised Melissa that if I do not hear from someone today, I would be submitting a complaint to the Attorney Generals office. This to me is taking advantage of an older person who lives alone. There was no need for this Acid Reducer System in the home, and they did not combine it with a softener to help the hardness. They also did not inform her of the proper maintenance which due to that now has caused additional issues with her water pressure to the home.Be cautious when reaching out to this company.

Marquise was on time, very polite and considerate of my home. The scheduled appointment was for a clogged tub, which he handled without issue but in the process he Nd I noticed the flange was cracked allowing water to leak into the basement. After stating he didn't have the part, attempted to "sell" me on replacing my older pipes and when rejected had me sign invoice and left....leaving a leak and me still not being able to use the tub. I've since called another plumber and had the issue corrected

While the technician successfully located the root cause of my furnace issue—a dead bird blocking the 3” exhaust pipe—the pricing and repair process were predatory.Before finding the bird, the technician misdiagnosed the system and charged me $935.23 to replace my pressure switch. The technician’s own notes showed that my original switch ohmed out perfectly during testing, and the brand-new switch immediately threw the exact same error code because the blockage was still there. This proves my original switch was working perfectly and just doing its safety job.The technician then quoted me an additional $1,020.36 just to cut the PVC pipe, remove the bird, and glue it back together. I declined, the tech left with my working original switch, and I fixed the issue myself for less than $15 in parts from the hardware store. The furnace now runs perfectly.Charging nearly $1,000 for a part that wasn't broken, plus quoting over $1,000 for a 15-minute PVC repair, is unacceptable. I am happy to pay a standard diagnostic fee for finding the bird, but I am demanding a refund for the unnecessary switch. The request for any adjustment was just denied. Proceed with extreme caution.

George and Kyle and the rest of the crew were amazing. I think the only person who was stressed out was me for arriving late. When I finally got through the traffic and arrived, they were already half way finished. You could tell this wasn’t the first HVAC they installed lol, they made it all look easy. George was very friendly and patient with me while I was trying to get there (we had a lock box issue and my tenant was not home). I felt like the job was in good hands, his confidence allowed me to relax. I would love to use HL Bowman in the future for both our properties, so until next time.

HL Bowman provided very professional and thoughtful service throughout a difficult diagnostic and replacement HVAC install. When things did not go as planned, they responded appropriately and worked with me to plot new paths forward.I secured multiple quotes from different calibers of HVAC companies. While HLB wasn't cheap, they quoted at ~10% less than a commensurate (in terms of reputation, size, etc...) competitor. Although their price was meaningfully higher than a much less reputable and established bidder, I opted for an established company with a demonstrated track record since my family depends on reliable HVAC serviceTheir team operated efficiently, professionally, communicated well and seemed generally smart and reasonable. Some the HVAC techs and electricians really impressed me with their depth knowledge and their analytical skills, as well as their ability to communicate their findings and thinking clearly and concisely. While the whole team was great, I want to shout out to Kyle, George and James - I really appreciated the effort, problem solving skills and super effective communication!No complaints - though they only just finished the install, so we will see how things go. Assuming that things go smoothly from here, I would definitely use them again - and would recommend them to others who value using an established, reputable company for something as critical and intimate as their home HVAC needs.

Tim came to fix our air conditioning system which had suddenly stopped functioning, sending a "no signal" alert. Tim is as focused and virtuosic as a surgeon! It took him no time to make his way into the forest of wires, find the culprit connection and bring the system to life. Had a BAD blocked shower and sink drain in bathroom. They contacted me on the weekend, showed up on time Monday morning, fixed the problem quickly! Also very honest - estimated $6-700 to snake the drain but found it didn't need to be snaked so charged me much less (they could easily have just done it and charged me). Found them through Angi(e's list).

A job that should of took 3 hrs. Took 6 hrs and the job wasn't finished I had to call and tell Joe it wasn't completed and he sent another guy out the next morning and he had the hardest part of the job a d did it in 2 .5 hrs. To many phone calls to the workers. They person who writes up the job description didn't do a good job the first 2 guys didn't even know the whole scope of the job. They pvc pipe didn't even cost 600.00 dollars.

We had HL Bowman come and install a UV light and a HEPA filter on our HVAC system in March. Part of the package is to have a complimentary system check. The tech came out today and inspected the outside unit and the unit in the basement. We were told the compressor was not working properly and would need to be replaced. We didn't have any issues prior to him coming out, so I called Bowman to explain this. I received a call at 6:30 PM the same day from the service manager, Bob Seeger. He took ownership of the issue and asked me how they could make things right. Even though it was late in the day, he offered to have someone come back at take a look at the unit. He said to give him 10 minutes and he would call be back. True to his word, he had Kiel come out and he was here within 40 minutes. Kiel did a thorough inspection of the unit and it turned out the capacitor was bad. Kiel had one in his truck and within minutes, we were back in business!! Bob kept checking back with me to make sure I was satisfied with the resolution and that we were up and running. I can't say enough good words about how he handled the customer service aspect of this. Both Bob and Kiel earned my utmost respect. It's refreshing to find a company that exhibits the true meaning of customer service and instills confidence in their customers.

Several days ago, we had a sewer leak into the basement. We detected it quickly and called Bowman plumbing. They came right out and cleaned out the sewer clog and then took a camera into the system. The piping was disinigrating and was not going to last much longer. 2 days later they sent out 3 gentlemen to dig up the out sewer line and replaced the pipes. They were on time, polite and skilled. They had to trench close to the house. When they had completed the work, the dirt was filled in, the sidewalk was swept and the yard was no worse for the wear. I would recommend this team to anyone who has sewer issues. Thank you Jordon and his team.

Fantastic experience! HL Bowman sent Mike out on a Wednesday. He explained all our options to repair our furnace thoroughly. We decided it was time for a new system do Jared came out Friday and walked us through the whole process and what made the most sense for our family. Julien was fantastic. He figured out quickly how to clear dirt from the humidifier which was preventing the water from going out the discharge hose. He also replaced our kitchen water faucet which greatly improved the water flow given that we have very hard water here in Cambridge. He was pleasant, fast, to the point and simply an easy going man. You'd better keep him; he's a gem!

If the amount of crud and mold doesn't warrant a deep WET cleaning, a lower price would make happier customers.

3 Stars is the best I can do and this is for the staff/technicians. Always cordial, responsive and engaged. Here is where HL Bowman falls short. They lean on the term “liability” frequently. This either due to their confidence level to do actual work or the technicians they hire are not seasoned experts. HL Bowman also does not service ALL things i.e. water softeners (unless a brand they promote). Water Softeners are very basic in nature and not complicated (for the majority of units out there). A simple task to remove and replace bed and resin was met with hesitation, low confidence and ultimately cancellation to perform the requested maintenance. Lastly, be diligent when pricing is quoted. In the 2 most recent services provided HL Bowman pricing is significantly higher than industry standard. While the work performed was of high quality the pricing was questionable. HL will sell you a membership which covers service call fees and annual checkups, but honestly if they are not comfortable and claim “liability” as a reason for not doing work you need to question experience, knowledge and expertise. All points to consider when purchasing a “Membership” Caveat Emptor

He was prompt and personable, and everything is working great for the first time in years. We'd gotten used to having to hold the handle down when flushing. Technician Mike Sanger was very helpful by explaining the A/C system in layman’s terms and how the system is presently working and made some recommendations for corrective action. I didn’t feel the pressure that he was only out for a sale, but some of the A/C components were wearing down and to maintain optimal performance with my new furnace that some components were recommended. Mike showed me that my existing A/C condenser was working harder than necessary because of the evaporator leak that made it easier to understand and what decisions we need to make in the near future. He was able to navigate and over come my distrust for a HVAC company whose techs, in the past, took short cuts during normal PM visits and failed to report problems when my HVAC system was in warranty. HLBowman has a good employee in Mike Sanger. He’s knowledgeable and straightforward about his observations with sound recommendations. He has helped me build some trust that I thought would be impossible to do. Definitely recommend this guy to anyone on HVAC systems.

What a great company! It can be a challenge to get a company to come up our way (Jim Thorpe/Summit Hill) and then when they do they can be hit or miss. Not so with HL Bowman. We had a same day service manager visit. The quote for the work was VERY reasonable and the tech was out the next morning and stayed to finish the job. They also ran into some issues with the planned work they quoted and it ended up taking longer than they thought but they did not alter the invoice. Can't say enough about how impressed we are! The estimator that came to my house came off as disrespectful. He snapped pictures of my electrical panel, which is normal, but sent them to his friend. He was laughing at his response in front of me. The estimator self censored some of the words which I am guessing were inappropriate.I have done a load calculation and determined there is nothing wrong with my panel. All of neighbor's with mini splits have the same panel configuration I do.The estimator states he can do my panel upgrade for $6k when I know several electricians that can do it for $1k or $2k.I was told my total cost would be $22k + $6k for a panel upgrade that's not needed. $28k for mini splits in a 1306sqft house. I asked for an itemized BOM but said he can't show it to me. As the estimator was leaving, he said I could finance this of all things....Very bad experience and I don't think I could ever recommend HL Bowman.From the estimator's own words "HVAC is a failed industry." I don't know why he needed to tell me that. Very uncomfortable experience.

I actually wasn’t going to leave a review but since i got a message about referring friends and family, here we are. Believe all the one star reviews. The company is responsive and nice until you address an issue. They also are not upfront about pricing. Called for a boiler restart. Considered an emergency call sent someone out the next day. Ended up costing $465. No parts needed. Was not told the price until after the service was completed. Had no choice but to pay. This is double their competitors prices.Boiler in is laundry area of the basement. Noticed a faint oil smell but thought it was from the tech bleeding the line. 3 days later i went into the laundry room because the oil smell had gotten strong. Turned the light on and saw a dark wet circle on the cement floor that was spreading and close to the dryer i was about to use. Located a leak where the connection to oil line is.Called HL immediately. Now i will say i understand I was calling on a Saturday for an emergency call. But when i called in the office rep i spoke with was indifferent and stated the next emergency call availability was the next THURSDAY. So a cash paying customer can get 24 hour turnaround time on an emergency, but if it’s to remedy their visit you need to wait a week. Rep stated they would elevate to their manager but no guarantees. I waited 2 hours with no manager call back.I called in again and spoke to a new rep. Their immediate resolve was to send someone Monday. Advised that would not work since my son’s bedroom is 5 ft away from the leak. They spoke with a manager and stated they would send someone out.10 mins later i received a call from a tech who said they’d be there in 30 minsWhen rectifying the situation the tech told me they only had one other emergency call that day and had been sitting home on call doing nothing prior to this visit.So they’re great when you’re paying them but their actual customer service is terrible when there’s a problem. They also did not respond when i advised i canceled my new boiler estimate due to poor treatment.A company’s service is based on how they respond when they aren’t being paid to care or upsell. And HL fails at it. I should have never used them because the 1 star reviews all say the same thing .

We are Patricia and David, we have been living in Lemoyne Pennsylvania for 12 years. When we bought are home the heating and air-conditioning (HVAC) unit was already installed. We contacted HL Bowman to come and inspect and service our HVAC unit. Nathan Gembe a specialist from HL Bowman came and inspected our HVAC unit, and pointed out some future problems that our unit has,and went over the options for repair. He explained the concerns about the inspection of our unit in language we could understand. We decided to replace our HVAC unit due to the fact it was on its backside of the unit service life. Nathan Gembe went over the many options that were available for us regarding the replacement of our HVAC unit.We went ahead and scheduled a time for HL Bowman to remove our HVAC unit and install a new HVAC system.The morning of our scheduled date a LH Bowman truck unloaded the components for the HVAC unit. The delivery man’s name I did not get, was very respectful of our property and very efficient in his laying out the delivered material. Specialist Michael Shultz and Jeremiah Welsh went over the removal of the old HVAC unit and the installation of the new HVAC unit they would be installing. Both specialists answered all our questions in a manner we could understand. On April 2026.The company sent out another specialist who informed me that several things were broken Including my UV light and had to be repaired to the tune of approximately $4300.I agreed Figuring the work was going to be done in a timely manner instead, I got a phone call telling me that the repair work could not be done until Late September.I immediately canceled having the work done and called on another company to come to give me a tuneup.To my surprise, I was informed that there was nothing wrong with my air-conditioning unit, It was in perfect condition and as far as the UV light is concerned, all it needs is a lightbulb. Well, bumping my review back up. I guess patience is a virtue. They stood by their guarantee and replaced my A/C unit with the next size up at no cost to me. They owned it, and I appreciate that. They sent one of their senior tech's out, Mike, who has been out for a few calls on this system(absolutely a great guy, can't speak highly enough of him). He spent a good few hours here running through absolutely everything and making sure he had his answers before he left. Later that night, I received a phone call to schedule replacing my outdoor A/C unit. They were willing to do it next day. It's since been replaced, but now we're just waiting for a hot day to put it through it's paces. Bryan, the president, personally reached out to me on his own time to assure me everything would be taken care of. I appreciate that greatly. Gavin, thank you for coming out and making the replacement as seamless as possible. If it weren't for the bumps along the road, if rate 5 stars, but I respect a company willing to stand by their product and guarantee, and giving it their all to try to make it work.Going to amend my review. Nothing against my previous review about the installers. They were great and did exactly what they needed to when led by a poor company. Had a system replaced by them in 2024 due to a bad furnace. They replaced both the A/C and furnace as both units were ancient. Truthfully, I wish I had never utilized their services. The furnace they installed, it's okay. It works as intended. Probably slightly undersized for the home (1959 home with poor insulation) which seems to be their thing. Had to have a technician come out to run a new thermostat wire just so it ran right. I love paying for things that I'm not able to take advantage of (2 stage furnace with a smart thermostat just to allow the furnace to act like a single stage). The A/C is another story. I've had multiple visits to my home for poor cooling. They've changed fan speeds, replaced parts, etc. but we've still not had good cooling in this home. Anytime the outdoor temp is above 85, the system can't keep up and the indoor temp slowly rises. My last visit, the technician told me they were out of options. At this point, I'm certain that their system is undersized. I shouldn't see 10+ hours of run time on a 80 degree day.Don and Tijear did great work for my home. Professional and knowledgeable individuals. The attention to detail was noticable and the install day was quite painless, for me anyway. They walked me through the thermostat, it's settings, programming, and it's remote sensor. They then walked me through the entire system, what they did, how lines were run, and how the units should operate. Their hard work is greatly appreciated.

The repair was made timely and all debris/packaging removed by the company, he left the area cleaner than he found it. Aaron also has a great sense of humor and I enjoyed talking with him.I did have two other techs come to the house, 1 on a Sunday and he put my mind at ease that the leak was minor and would be fine until they could have a well tech come out. The 2nd tech come during regular business hours to fix the leak but recognized that there may be issues in addition to the leak that he was not able repair due to not having parts and rather make a repair knowing there are other issues he deferred to having a tech with greater knowledge of wells, Aaron, come out to evaluate and make the repair. Our friends referred us to Kole Brothers after I told her about the last maintenance visit we had with HL Bowman. *It's absolutely worth it having Kole Brothers come out to inspect your HVAC system!* Bowman installed our HVAC system in 2024. We signed up for the 2 maintenance visits a year program. Each visit, a technician would tell us conflicting information about our system. Last week, Bowman said we had mold and needed ASAP a duct cleaning and UV light installed. The tech was extremely pushy, wanting me to agree to install the UV light system that day. His reply to me when I said I will have to discuss with my husband once he was done with work was well what does he do because we call him to talk about it now. I said no. He then said about not waiting to schedule the duxt cleaning because they are booking out a month and their prices will be increasing soon. Alex with Kole Brothers came this morning to inspect our system. Instead of taking misleading photos to show me what he found (like what Bowman does), Alex had me be there with him. Alex explained everything to me while showing me what he found. If I went with the UV light system and duct cleaning, we would have wasted $3,000 while the the two main issues of our system not being addressed/fixed. One of the issues was simply cutting the insulation wall to match the depth of the duct wall (not enough air was going up to the duct work). It's amazing how much air flow there is now in the one room that is always the hottest in summer and coldest in winter. This should have been done during installation or at EVERY inspection and it wasn't. The second issue will only cost us $315...an issue that Bowman should have pointed out. We now signed up with Kole Brothers. Alex was also very prompt with giving me detailed estimates to fix the one issue as well as how much it would cost for us to have a new hot water heater installed once we are ready for that." Another Bowman technician thought it was appropriate to start a political conversation with me since I had on The View. I tried to be as polite as possible, explaining I had it on as background noise. When Bowman installed our system in 2024, they messed up our siding, not saying anything. When a supervisor (I believe it was one) came out to see how everything went, he noticed the crack in the siding and went out of his way to track down siding pieces so we can replace it (that guy gets 5 stars). Our air handler makes a really loud banging noise at times when it turns on. I received conflicting information about that as well.

I am a first time homebuyer and 2026 was first winter in a new home. We were thrusted into a bad spot when our forced air handler unit (18 years old) busted in the middle of a below freezing night in January. HL Bowman treated us with spectacular care, and without their expertise I’m sure a burst pipe or worse could have occurred. Given our situation HL bowman could have certainly price gouged us, and after not too much back & forth we secured a brand new air handler hvac system for our new home within days. Thank you Steve the technician who first came out, Manny in sales, and the installers who were nothing but pros the whole way through. Bonus points for friends of HL bowman employees that came by with space heaters when they didn’t have to. Thank you!!

Overly nice guy showed up. Refused to look at pipes going to drainfield. Insisted on new tank at $15k for 2-4 bedroom. Later to find out it shouldn’t have cost that much and did NOT fix problems. Owners dug and found broken pipe to drain field. That repair was $150They reached out but haven’t concluded anything. They recommended the new tank - which didn’t fix the problem- is sinking in bc there wasn’t enough fill so I’m hoping that won’t be an issue. Again, the tank wasn’t the issue. The pipe from the tank was. And once we (homeowners 2 older ladies ) dug it up then we revealed a broken pipe between septic tank and drain field. Then thank God got a handy man to repair the pipe at $150. Not a $15,000 fix!Still no call. Go to your local hardware store and ask for a local handyman! Do not engage these people directly. They are not who they pretend to be. Disgrace. BTW I would not be doing this addendum if they hadn’t twice texted me for a $1000 referral which reminded me of how crooked they are.

Scott Klahr and his assistant did an excellent job installing our new HVAC system. The project took almost two days. They were meticulous with every step, and left our home/basement very clean. Scott thoroughly reviewed the work performed and gave us step-by-step instructions regarding the operation of the new system.The need for a new HVAC replacement was a big surprise to us, but the financial hit was softened by the way we were treated and knowing that we are in good hands going forward with our service plan.Also, kudos to Chad recommending the system went decided upon.

*AVOID THIS COMPANY:We had an extremely disappointing and concerning experience with H L Bowman and strongly caution others before using this company.In 2019, we hired them to replace an outdoor spigot/hose bib and copper plumbing, which cost $309. That installation ultimately failed within a few years due to what a technician on a recent visit confirmed was an improper initial installation.Fast forward to our recent service call: a technician came out, diagnosed the issue, and quoted us over $700 to replace a simple hose bib with no additional parts required. After questioning the price, they “discounted” it to $600. Feeling uneasy about the pricing, we asked them to stop the work so we could get a second opinion. Only then did the technician suddenly offer to honor the original 2019 price of $309—raising serious questions about where these pricing numbers were coming from and how such a drastic “discount” could be offered on the spot.Beyond pricing concerns, we were also uncomfortable with multiple invasive practices. The technician entered our home to test water without clear prior explanation, left a sink filled with water that did not properly drain afterward, and requested access to our furnace and AC unit under the claim of a promotional “discount” tied to central air—despite those systems having nothing to do with the service we requested. They then took photos of serial numbers and other items in our home without our clear understanding or consent, which felt like a violation of privacy.To make matters worse, the invoice provided was extremely vague with no breakdown of labor or materials, making it impossible to understand what we were actually being charged for. We also discovered we were apparently signed up for a $12.00 “membership” program that we never agreed to.Overall, this experience felt disorganized, opaque, and uncomfortable from start to finish. Between questionable pricing practices, lack of transparency, and unnecessary access to areas of our home unrelated to the repair, we absolutely cannot recommend this company and advise others to avoid at all costs.

Been a few years since last serviced furnace, as winters last (hopefully last) below freezing temps recently have us switching back to heat after days of open windows, my furnace not willing to fire up - dagnabit! We had a very positive experience with everyone involved in our heat pump installation from the initial visit through completion. We were able to schedule an appointment that was convient for us. We knew what we wanted done and had researched the average cost. Nathan measured our house and determined what size unit we needed. It ended up that the unit we had was too small. After giving us an explanation of the systems, we chose what we wanted. He didn't pressure us or try to talk us into extras, although we went with the best system. What made it even better was our ability to qualify for a senior citizen discount and a special, that made a significant difference in the price. We already had our money set aside for the project and were ready for installation.They were able to schedule us for the next day. Christian and the team were here right on time. I expected professionalism, courtesy, and care of our property, and clean up, and we weren't disappointed. The work was completed to our satisfaction by the afternoon. There were 2 things that I really appreciated. One was the quietness of their work and conversation....no banging, radios, or yelling to each other. I had gotten in from out of state and to bed at 3am. They weren't aware, but I had gotten up and moved to another room to go try to sleep. I was able to fall asleep with them going in and out and working right above me. Also Christian and his team did a great job of going over everything with me, and he was the only person who gave me an answer as to why our bedrooms don't heat and cool as well as the rest of the house.They are all above a non heated/ non cooled garage. We're thinking about putting more insulation on the garage ceiling to see if it helps. Our electric bills have been climbing and we're looking forward to a new and more efficient system hopefully lowering them.Thank you. Great job.

Zach Wiker conducted a complimentary plumbing evaluation, during which he showed me evidence of sediment collecting on my kitchen spigot head. Zach recommended attaching a descaling unit to the water tank to clear the kitchen spigot and to prevent sediment clogging other spigots and shower heads in my home. He was prepared to attach the unit that day, did so and explained those things I should know about it. Zach was personable, professional and, obviously, a good salesman!

HL Bowman replaced my heat pump system a few months ago and I called them out most recently to replace my hose bib that had burst (before even buying my house!) from frozen pipes over a winter some time ago that I just now got around to dealing with now that I am starting a garden. The only issue I have is when he said the coils in my outside unit were dirty and needed cleaning, I assumed when I okayed the work, it was some kind of complex coil cleaning… not simply something my 10 year old son could have done using the garden hose. Don’t recommend and will be in contact with better business bureau. First guy that came wasn’t on time with our 12pm-4pm appt didn’t show till 6pm and when he got here he came with broken equipment to even do the job but charged us $650. Next day another came he claimed we had a soft clog which we knew already and then claimed our pipes were broken and the price they gave us for clearing the soft clog and and fixing the so called broken pipe was $10,400 which is absolutely insane not to mention they gave us two other quotes of $22,000 and 32,000. We went out and dug up the pipes ourselves and there is definitely no broken pipe like they claimed talk about a company that’s money hungry and full of lies.

On March 18,2023 Adam Bossic came to my home with two other gentleman to replace my air conditioner as the old one quite at the end of the season. He was the one who put the newcoil on my furnace. He had to change the drain on the pump aswell. They have to clean the old freon out and clean the hose.I looked at the old one and suggested that it would be easier tojust replace it. He said yes it would and he did replace it. He dida very neat wrap with the insulation.

Been using HL Bowman for years. They do tend to be overpriced but what happened lastnight caused me to write this review. I had a Navien system installed by them in Nov 2024. The 1 year repair warranty is now passed and i thought i had an extended warranty. Lastnight(3/19/2026) I noticed, while still in winter(31°F), the system threw and error code and is leaking water. With the error code we have no heat or hot water with a newborn baby in the home. I explained the issue and the lady stated the earliest they could get someone in was 3/25/26. Not to mention because I called after hours the fee for a person to come out during normal hours now is $105 not the $75. For a business that states they treat everyone as a family, I most certainly feel as a stranger.

The tech that was sent was not the tech that was originally assigned to the repair so he had to base the repair of pictures and a phone call. He was extremely helpful and polite and explained everything he was doing. He was very adamant about keeping our home clean. He was only an HVAC tech and not a plumber so he couldn't replace my kitchen faucet as planned. We felt bad for the poor communication he received internally because he was told the wrong diameter copper pipe to buy and had to run for more. Again, tech was great and did excellent work quickly. I don't like to blame waiters if the cook screws up steak and this is like that where he did everything he could to fully complete the job. Two pipes that were re-routed together in a loop left the cut off ends still attached to the side of the boiler where they were cut off rather than removing and capping them also.

We had our boiler break unfortunately this year and left with no heat. Austin Shafor was sent for diagnostic work and informed us we needed a whole new system. This was a shock but he showed and explained comprehensively why this is and used terms that non-boiler experts can understand.The very same day, they sent Nate Kudla, a sales specialist to inform us of their options. He was very informative and personable. The price was a shock but he lessened the blow with his reassurances and garuntees.The install was performed the very next day in very quick time where a whole new system was completed by Glen Keiper & Shayne Keiper. The work looks clean and professional.Overall, within my first call and completed job, the work was completed within 48 hours to a great standard.In case anyone has any price enquires, it is a lot more than Google AI says so don't believe that. We have since spoke to other mechanical specialists that say the overall price was reasonable.

New furnace in Dec with AC. Install went fine or so we thought. Every cold night and winter storm, the furnace stops working. We were told that during cold spells the intake might freeze shut. Love making a trek through a blizzard in the middle of the night to clean out the intake. Old furnace had no problems with same intake line. This is ridiculous! We live in NE, it has harsh winters.Can't wait for summer and the AC doesn't work and we are told to open the windows!I understand the company's feedback. To respond to it 1) the account is in my husband's name. and 2) the service team has been back 3 times for this with the last time being told it would cost us $1500+ to reroute the intake and even then it still may not work. 3) The only manner that we are able to heat our house during a storm overnight is to run space heaters which is less safe than my old furnace.

Our new system was installed on December 26.Four days later, though the thermostat was set to 67° the actual temperature was 52°. Bowman investigated and told us that our dampers and zone boards needed to be replaced in order to rectify this. We were blindsided by this additional $3000 repair after spending $15,000 on a new system. Bowman as the “experts” should have educated us as the consumer that this could be a an additional repair in the future, considering how old our current system was. The Bowman install manager brushed this off as “bad luck,” and offered a $100 Amazon gift card "for the trouble." I was floored, and responded suggesting they might consider something other than an Amazon gift card valued at 3% of the additional work. Minimal additional discounts were offered, but the technicians were not informed and still charged the full amount. (Eventually refunded.)Alas. The repair did not work. We continued to have no heat on our first floor - and during a period of frigid temps. This lasted for weeks while a few technician visited and left the problem undiagnosed and unresolved. After repeated calls and emails to the installation manager and trying to pull in higher management at Bowman (both of whom were apathetic and unhelpful) we were finally assigned a senior technician, John, who (thank you, John) was able to fix the problem in a matter of minutes.This was January 30. ONE MONTH of a system that did not work properly, $18,000 of spend and about $300 offered for “our trouble.” ZERO accountability by anyone in a position of management. Never another word from our sales person.And to add one more layer of insult to injury, we just received a $600 heating bill. Likely because the only way to stay warm during this one month period after spending $18,000 on a new system was to run multiple space heaters.I have been a homeowner for a long time and have never experienced such across the board inadequacies and poor service.

I called HL Bowman Friday night at 9pm in the middle of summer and was connected to a live person who scheduled a technician visit for Saturday morning. That alone was impressive! I received notice by text, and a call 5 minutes before the technician, Ryan arrived. He was friendly and professional. I was transitioned to HL Bowman after they inherited my account from Climate Partners, and the experience has been deeply concerning. My furnace was throwing an error code for an 'open fuse/airflow' issue. The technician, Justin, replaced the factory-specified high-limit switch in my Luxaire TM9E100C16MP11A with a 140°F switch, claiming a lower temperature was 'safer' and would resolve the code.Since this 'repair,' the furnace has been worse: it trips the high-limit more frequently, short-cycles, produces cooler supply air, and runs significantly longer.When I requested a follow-up, the second technician arrived and refused to even use his tools to check static pressure. He insisted Justin’s work was correct and—most alarmingly—stated that it is 'normal' for a furnace to cycle on and off via the high-limit switch during operation.This is factually incorrect. A high-limit switch is a safety device, not a thermostat. Repeatedly tripping it indicates a serious airflow or setup issue, not a 'failed' switch that needs to be downgraded. By installing a lower-rated switch, they have simply masked a symptom while making the furnace run less efficiently. I am seriously concerned about the competency and honesty of this team. If you value your HVAC system’s longevity and safety, look elsewhere

We had a leaking water line to our dishwasher that could only be diagnosed by cutting through a portion of the drywall ceiling of the family room beneath our kitchen. At first, we thought this was going to be a minor issue. However, the leak worsened and I had to ask Bowman to come out a second time to confirm the earlier estimate. On both occasions, the response time was very good. Zack Wagner completed the repair on Wednesday, Feb. 4 in a minimal amount of time and within the estimate. He explained everything thoroughly and provided an estimate for a water treatment system that should help to prevent further corrosion to our 30+ year-old copper pipes. Winters installed my new heating system just about three years ago. It’s been terrific, but recently it started to make some odd noises. Jeo, my excellent technician, identified the issue right away. A little air in the line, which he immediately took care of. And because my house is over 100 years old and settling, it caused two copper pipes to press against each other. So when the heat came on they would vibrate and make a rattling noise. A small spacer put between them solved the problem right away. Awesome service. Friendly and knowledgeable technician. This company is dishonest and is trying to take advantage of people!They came out to look at a combo boiler that failed. Gave us a quote for 28k to replace it. I'm talking drop the old unit , put up new unit and do little piping and turn it back on. Ive been in the trades for 35+ years and never had anyone give such inflated price. There goal was to take advantage of the situation during this cold weather snap. I had an other plumber come out on the same day ,replaced the unit and reworked the plumbing for fraction of the cost. Called HL Bowman as an emergency at night. They came the next day even though I was not a customer. My Heater and AC could not be fixed. They scheduled a new furnace install right away. The install went well and the techs were very professional. Unfortunately, the system never turned off after the techs left. I called back right away and was told I would hear back shortly. I waited until almost an hour then called back. I was told a tech would be back. Several hours later the manager informed me that no techs were available. I spent the night without heat. Two different techs arrive the next day. The low GWP board that runs the pressure sensors failed. They didn't have a replacement so they bypassed it. The next appointment time was missed. I called and after 20 minutes was speaking with the manager. He said he would call back. The call back was prompt and a tech was sent right away. Everything is now working.When calling they use an AI assistant to screen their calls. I believe I would have had a better response had I spoken to a person. HL Bowman (Pete) reached back out and apologized for the miscommunitions. They added an additional 1 year warranty for our trouble.

My experience with H.L. Bowman has been Awsome. I have a had a few members of the team come out for up keep and to check out an old unit. Ran into some issues with that old unit which Austin Shafor throughly explained what was wrong with the unit as well as showed me so I had a better understand ment of what the issues were. He referred me to Brett Yeagley which came out that same day to discuss options for a new unit. That gentleman right there made this whole process happen quick, easy, as well as made this possible to be replaced overnight. He went over everything in the book, pricing, different units, what unit woukd be suitable as well as in my price range he did excellent work and made my problem become a solution. He had a team come out the very next day to get this unit installed properly which they installed my A/C, Furnace, new condenser, and thermostat in a timely fashion. That team consisted of Anel Hernandez as well as Alnaydo Rodriguez two great members of the H.L. Bowman team. They explained what they were doing how they were going to go about installing the units as well as throughly explained the units and their functions properly. These guys treat you like family are willing to answer any questions you may have. They work hard and are very good at what they do. This whole team made what I thought was a nightmare become into an eye opening blessing by getting the job done perfectly in a day before this winter storm we are about to get. I will not be cold in my home and my pipes will not be freezing this winter with what this team as made into reality today. I appreciate the H.L. Bowman team and the work they do. **EDIT** Since originally generating this review, we have been successfully able to get our system fully operational in time for the cold months. Though communication during the process was difficult due to the inconsistency of who we worked with, I was contacted by an escalation manager to be the point for any issues that arise. Having that single point of contact does help immensely, and the company did send out a specialized technician who was able to resolve all the issues.BLUF: While the technicians from HL Bowman were polite and respectful, our overall experience replacing our furnace and A/C was very difficult and stressful. From the date of sale, to the initial install a week later, it took approximately two months and 7 separate visits to obtain a fully functional system. I do not believe that this is a common occurrence, and I believe they are updating their processes and procedures to ensure it does not happen to anyone else again.Key Note: 24/7 Emergency Service is slightly misleading. The service is seasonal, and is mostly just weekends for any non life-threatening situation. Under most circumstances, assuming someone answers, this service should be everything it needs to be.We called Bowman after our A/C failed and decided to replace both systems, converting from electric to propane. The salesman no-showed the first appointment, and the installation team later realized they had forgotten a required part, leaving the system unfinished. From there, the situation only got worse — leaks, a blown valve, wiring mistakes, missing parts, and repeated delays.Across six separate visits, we experienced multiple late arrivals and one complete no-show, even on a day when their presence was required for the propane hookup. We lost work time, paid for a wasted propane service call, and spent weeks waiting for ordered parts and corrections.Adding to the frustration, two technicians gave conflicting explanations of what system had been installed. One said propane-only, another said dual-fuel. We later learned that we actually received a dual system, not what we were told we purchased.When colder weather arrived, the furnace performed poorly — slow to heat, unable to maintain temperature, and the house cooled rapidly when it shut off. Calling after hours for help was no better: their advertised “24/7 Emergency Service” turned out to be seasonal and only available if a technician is willing to work overtime.The individual techs were great people, but the company’s coordination, communication, and reliability have been challenging for a whileI do not think this is a common issue for people, but it did, unfortunately, happen to us. What started as a quick install turned into a couple months long slog going into freezing temperatures before the system worked correctly.

My experience with all, the service men that came, Timothy Whalen, that showed up Saturday when we had no heat just arriving back from Grenada for 3 weeks no heat. We needed a new furnace, and the servicemen Chris Sines and Zack Mordini and they removed and installed our new furnace by mid morning. Earl came out and did a whole home plumbing evaluation which is included at no cost with our maintenance plan. He tested our water and did a thorough assessment of our pipe work and our fixtures. STAY AWAY!!Extremely over priced and scary.I had a leaking valve which i replaced with Apgar for (250$ out the door).Or with A Plus HVAC for same price.They asked me to pay them 1600$ to replace a leaking valve and try to intimidate me into believing my oil burner is in bad shape and needs a-lot of work.The Lady Samantha from customer service wasn’t very polite and tried to take a 500$ deposit pre service fee which i refused to give because they advertised a free diagnostic no obligation.I can smell scheme artists from miles, Stay away.

I have oil based heating, and my heat stopped working during a period when temperatures were around 10 to 20 degrees. With a one year old in the home, this was an urgent situation and I was actively looking for help.I called HL Bowman and they said they would send someone out to fix the issue. A technician arrived later that same day. He initially diagnosed the problem as a loose wire in my aquastat and told me the heat should now work. As he was leaving, I went upstairs to verify and noticed the heat was still not working. I asked him to take another look and he confirmed that heat was not moving through the baseboard radiators.He went back downstairs, checked the system again, and told me that the aquastat would need to be replaced for my New Yorker boiler. I asked for the price and was quoted $1400. He said he had the part in his work van. It sounded expensive, but given the cold weather and having a one year old in the home, I felt I had no choice but to proceed and decided to pay the premium to have the issue fixed.The technician completed the work, said everything was working, and left after I signed and paid. While I should have verified the heat myself before he left, the technician departed and there was still no heat coming from the radiators. Nothing had been fixed and I was out $1400. I called HL Bowman again, but the next day was New Year’s Day and they were closed.On January 2nd, a second technician came out. He told me that the real issue was a fried Taco circulator pump, which explained why the heat was not working. I was then given another $1400 quote to fix this issue. At that point, I decided to stop working with HL Bowman. I was already out $1400 and still without heat. The first technician left without fixing the problem, and the proposed resolution from the second technician was simply to charge me another $1400.I am extremely disappointed in the lack of attention to detail for something as critical as home heating. The heat was never working after the first visit, and my only option presented was to pay another large repair bill or look elsewhere.I strongly suggest that anyone using this company verify everything they are told and do their own due diligence regarding what has actually been fixed. I trusted HL Bowman based on the reviews I had read, and that trust ended up costing me significantly.

My tenant stated the boiler was not keeping up with heating the first floor. two days later there service tech came out to the property the service tech was only there 30minuts got heat back running however the service tech stated that the boiler needed to be replaced that it was 10 years old and the part to repair it were no longer available . HL Bowman charged me 1.750.00 for there service I was not convinced the young service tech knew what he was doing much less knew what he was talking about of out dated boiler. So I called Steve's oil burner repair He came out the same day he looked over the boiler he stated that the calculator pump was bad he had a new pump on his trk . he replaced it and only charged me 250.00I would NOT recommend HL Bowman at all They advertise on the radio honest & dependable work I believe that's farthest from the truth

My husband and I are first time homeowners in a house built in the 1900s. We’re very skeptical as we’ve heard horror stories from friends and family about the people they’ve hired. HL Bowman has been nothing less than a godsend for us. We’ve had them come out twice, this last time Austin came out for our boiler service. He was very knowledgeable and even though he said our boiler is in great condition and didn’t have to do much for it, he brought my husband down and explained everything to him that was done. He even went as far as to put a puppy pad on the floor under the boiler because “sometimes it can drip” the little things like that are what make a company GREAT.

We didn’t have heat in our house for up to two weeks because my furnace stopped working I tried some one else to look at it but he only told me that it looks fine and to change the The batteries and the thermostat changed the filter and had a 45° pipe outside to the already existing exhaust pipe Tom about the code when it stopped working again and he said he’d order a part and let me know when by that time it’s already been a week and I needed heat so I called HL Bowman. It came out took a look tried everything got it working again but a day later it stopped called them back and let them know. Another person came out. Austin don’t even deeper and found the issue that I needed a new furnace so he contacted Josh who helped us out with pricing getting a plan and they got me a new furnace on Friday from Wednesday and the two technicians Timothy and Greg both came out and set up our new furnace with our new thermostat. Make sure everything worked properly cleaned everything up professionally I had a buddy there cause I wasn’t able to be there and he kept me updated on the progress sent the photo. Everything looked beautifully and when I got home that night it just felt so nice to have heat in the house. I truly appreciate all the work that they did made a fantastic job

Needed a new hot water heater..called HL Bowman and they responded within 1-1/2 hrs (which I consider excellent)when quoted price for the job ,I was also persuade to go with an expansion tank that was supposedly recommended for the unit...I already had the same hot water heater,but a slightly larger expansion tank that was approx .3 months old..(I felt I could have saved money in this area ..next day my hot water heater was scheduled to be replaced...The person who replaced it and did the job (Phil) was very courteous and knowledgeable and answered all my concerns ..when it came time to pay the bill ,I requested a hard copy of all work done( a breakdown of tank,expansion tank,labor along with warranty info,waited 2 weeks,but never heard back ..calledHL Bowman back and was told they would send it the next day ..overall experience with Phil,who installed the unit is a 5 out of 5...in respect for HL Bowman customer service on my request for my request on hard copy info..a 2

H.L. Bowman has been nothing short of fantastic to work with. Our 22 year old furnace finally died on a Wednesday and Nate was able to come out the next day to provide an estimate. We met with several companies and decided to go with Bowman on Friday afternoon; they were out on Monday morning . We were told the techs, Tim and Greg, would show up between 7:30-8:30, but likely closer to 8. The first tech showed up at 8 and got to work. They were able to install a new furnace, thermostat, and return by that afternoon so we could finally have heat back! The techs were friendly and efficient, cleaned up after everything was done, and weren't bothered by our nosy dog. Both Nate and the techs were knowledgeable and able to explain things easily. Phenomenal service! I called HL Bowman when my heating stopped working in the middle of a cold night. They were able to send a technician the next morning, who quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced a faulty part on the spot. The price was reasonable, and the technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful of my home. He left the space spotless as well. My heat’s working perfectly now — I’d definitely use them again!

They canceled my appointment the day before and it was scheduled over a month out I called and an artificial intelligence person answers the phone cant get the correct spelling of my name when I asked for a real person it transferred me and Noone answered the phone so it shifted me to a machine and asked to leave a message or wait for the next available representative in which Noone answered and then kept looping me back and forth to the machine and same message still Noone answered 🤣Also last year they put in a new computer system and weren't taking out my monthly contract fee and then all at once deducted a large amount from my bank account all at once without any notification which after seeing it I canceled my yearly contract they told me nothing just went into my bank account and took what they want. This is for the "free" appointment we had scheduled today. We were told 8AM-12PM and there was no call or show.... I completely understand that things happen and it takes longer than expected but you must let people know! I had to call in at 12 to see what happened. Then no call or show 2 hours later at 2 pm. There goes 6 hours waiting for the plumber.Meanwhile, I see another plumber next door and have them come into my home for free and give me a quote. I called again to Bowman and asked a lady if they were coming and received the same answer (it's now 2 PM) and they had no idea when they would show up. The quote is not free unless you go with them and who knows when they will show up! I wasted a whole day waiting and now I have to wait another day because I don't think you should have my business. No apology from the second lady, she just got annoyed when I asked questions to see why they mentioned the quote was free. I'm allowed to ask questions.... From your other comments, I see some people had the same problem. It looks like there just needs to be some communication. I assume you do not need the business if you do not call. If you are too busy you can tell people you cannot do it and save them some time.
