HVAC Equipment Shortage: What You Need to Know
A global shortage of microchips and other key supplies has created the perfect storm in the HVAC industry—one we hope will blow over as soon as possible!
Right now, our entire industry is grappling with equipment shortages due to supply chain issues and available workers. While everyone is confident the supply chain will eventually catch up, it is becoming more challenging to meet the demand for new HVAC equipment.
In a recently published article, the Associated General Contractors of America noted a shortage in copper, plastics, concrete, wood—and yes, microchips. That has significantly slowed down the manufacturing of new air conditioners and furnaces.
These shortages are impacting numerous industries. You see it on the auto dealer lots with low inventory and increased pricing, or if you’re trying to purchase a new gaming system. Shortages on semiconductors have all but halted manufacturing—some companies such as Sony have begun to redesign and rethink their product designs without requiring these components.
How Does This Shortage Impact Our HL Bowman Customers?
If you have an HVAC system near the end of its service life, please consider replacing it before you find yourself without air conditioning during the hottest months of the summer. Right now, it could take several weeks before we can install your new AC system from the time you place an order.
Our prices remain the best around, and we offer flexible financing packages. We want our customers to understand we are doing everything possible to fill orders, but it will take time before the supply chains are back up to speed.
Our team at HL Bowman is always happy to assist with any residential or commercial heating, cooling, or plumbing project. Please visit our products page for high-efficiency air conditioners, furnaces, and heat pumps.
We also offer ductless mini-split systems that offer you flexible room-by-room comfort. These whisper-quiet systems require no ductwork, making them a perfect option for additions, rec rooms, or guesthouses.
