In a recently published article, the Associated General Contractors of America noted a shortage in copper, plastics, concrete, wood—and yes, microchips. That has significantly slowed down the manufacturing of new air conditioners and furnaces.

These shortages are impacting numerous industries. You see it on the auto dealer lots with low inventory and increased pricing, or if you’re trying to purchase a new gaming system. Shortages on semiconductors have all but halted manufacturing—some companies such as Sony have begun to redesign and rethink their product designs without requiring these components.
